Why I love attending creative industry events
If you follow me on my social accounts, you might have seen that I went to the Still Learning day by D&AD in London. This was an amazing experience for many reasons, but mostly, it was a full day of intense thinking and interacting with other creatives, which always sparks ideas and change.
The event couldn’t have been better named – Still Learning – because ultimately is what every open-minded human does all the time. Being curious about others, other ways of thinking, working and doing is the best way to keep evolving and connecting to the world around you.
Highlights include:
a talk from Rani Patel smashing down the taboo around trauma in the creative industry;
an eye-opening session from Plastic Free’s Patrick Keogh and Made Thought’s Ben Parker about an incredible tool that will help creatives influence businesses in making the right decisions for our planet;
the iconic Morag Myerscough shining a light on breaking down boundaries between art/design/communities;
a valuable masterclass on streaming the creative process, from Nick Eagleton @Saboteur;
Pentagram’s Paula Scher being recognised for her trailblazing career in this industry;
Liza Enebeis from Studio Dumbar on how to put brands in motion in an intentional and authentic way;
and finally, Brian Collins from We are Collins reminding us all of our craft and the importance of having insanely great ideas and moving away from the boring trend of the standardisation of brands.
I left the venue feeling very happy to have the opportunity to be a creative in London. Especially after the pandemic.
